The Amazon Linux AMIs start gettys on virtual consoles and on the virtual serial console. Since a Amazon customer cannot connect to any of those, I wonder if this is an oversight or intentionally. I could imagine that Amazon Engeneers have access to at least one of the two consoles.

I would recommend to remove that from the next image. It reduces the number or running processes and it increases the trust into the AWS Linux installation.

BTW: the scripts about stopping/starting plymouth the graphical splash screen produce errors, since it is not installed. I guess it makes sense to remove the init scripts for that as well (especially since there a quite a few places).
