EC2 seems like a great idea. I was wondering if anyone could comment on the DB aspect of EC2. I'm assuming you'd still host your DB server elsewhere. Wouldn't that be really slow (because you're piping all DB traffic over the net)? At every enterprise shop I've worked at we've always assumed it was really important to have the DB in the same rack as the app servers. Am I missing something here?
