The freshly released Ning application environment includes a set of APIs to access AWS. The API is rather lean and mean at the moment -- it includes ItemSearch and ItemLookup calls, along with some methods for dealing with search results of various types. You will need developer-level access to Ning in order to find and use these calls.
If you have built a Ning application using these APIs, please let us know.

Thanks for the posting!
Because Ning includes a full PHP runtime environment, you can easily go beyond the Amazon component we provide and use any element of the full Amazon web services API you want. We'd be happy to help anyone who wants to do this -- you can contact us at any time at support AT ning.com.

I just discovered that you can upload Flash movies to Ning and embed them in your page. This provides a nice way to build little mini bookstores in an app. Here's a sample I built. It features a banner which has the Time magazine "100 best novels" list in it:

I'm in the midst of creating an Amazon powered marketplace through Ning.com. I found a note on your blog asking for folks using this service to write in. The pre-created bookshelf application has been helpful to get me started. Although I'm having a hard time figuring out how to edit the code so it allows me to add more products than just books. Can anyone help me out?
